The old walls of Sarnano speak to centuries of history.  They date from the 1300s. The centro storico is one of the most characteristic in the province of Macerata.  Wouldn’t you just love a townhouse in that old wall, with all the character, and history that that brings?  Townhouse Muro Storico literally means the “townhouse in the old walls” and that’s exactly where you’ll find it.  Over 700 years of lives lived within those same walls provide charm, warmth and atmosphere to Townhouse Muro Storico.

Townhouse Muro Storico is one of those properties you see in a magazine.  You enter the structure via an enormous thick arched wooden door that itself dates back a century or so.  The townhouse restoration was undertaken by someone with great respect for the original characteristics of the space.  The townhouse has magnificent vaulted ceilings and archways…the kind you see in those restaurants in Tuscany.  The bricks in the ceilings are those thin, old, rustic ones frequently referred to as “Roman Brick”.  The floors are terra-cotta pianella tiles.  The walls are a mix of stone, brick and very warm colors.

Townhouse Muro Storico has a simple, open layout and is uniquely spread across a single floor (in contrast, many in-town apartments are two- or three-stories and cramped).  It is a broad, bright, open living space.  It’s also an intimate 60 square meters, perfect for a couple.   The floor plan has a large kitchen/dining/sitting space with a window that looks out at the majestic Sibillini Mountains.  A short, broad corridor leads to the large master (and only) bedroom.  The bedroom can be separated from the corridor using a large glass wall or wrought iron door – your choice. There is one bathroom and a laundry room.  The townhouse is currently used as a technical studio.  But, it’s ready for use as the townhouse for which it was intended as all plumbing and drains for the kitchen are pre-installed.

Townhouse Muro Storico is a very particular property.  You can find a cheaper apartment but you can’t find more character per square meter for the money.  For a couple or a single person with an eye for design, and an appreciation for history, this living space is fantastic.  Plus, with the key in-hand and only kitchen cabinets and appliances to install, it’s ready to go.  The townhouse affords you just about the most cozy environment, year-round…the old walls keep you cool in the hot summers, and the central heating does the job in winter.  Add a pellet stove or wood-burner (and a nice warming grappa) to complete the ambiance at Muro Storico.

In addition to the history and living space at Townhouse Muro Storico, a tremendous positive here is that it’s located in Sarnano.  Italians and foreigners alike to tend to love Sarnano.  Sarnano is ALIVE – culture, history, restaurants, bakeries, cafes, shopping, supermarkets, gelaterias, the historic teatro…everything you need to live the dolce vita is just outside the door – that is, if you choose to leave the cozy confines of the townhouse!  Sarnano is unique in that it’s bigger than the typical hill-town, but smaller than a city.  The historic piazza alta is a short walk away…same goes for the newer (relatively speaking) commercial piazza.  There’s the Thursday market, too.

Townhouse Muro Storico is located about 45 minutes from the beach and 10 minutes from the Sibillini National Park.  Within 10-15 minutes, you’re in a multitude of hill-towns, amongst them San Ginesio, Gualdo, Amandola, Caldarola, Monte San Martino, Camportondo and others.

So, if instead of seeing it in a magazine, you’d prefer to see yourself in an intimate, historically important townhouse in a great Marche town, head to the townhouse in the part of town where they’ve been going for over 700 years – Townhouse Muro Storico!
